Onyx & Friends was created to be more than a children’s book series. It’s a collection of heartfelt adventures designed to help children—and the adults who share these stories with them—navigate some of life’s most important lessons: believing in yourself, overcoming fear, finding courage, showing kindness and compassion, practicing gratitude, and discovering that you may be stronger than you think.

 

James has always believed in the powerful connection between people and animals, especially horses. They can make us smile, bring us comfort, teach us patience, build confidence, and sometimes reach our hearts without ever saying a word. Onyx & Friends brings that special connection together with meaningful lessons that readers can carry into their own lives.

Through Onyx, Angel, Luna, and the friends they meet along the way, each story takes readers on a new adventure filled with friendship, challenges, discovery, and heart.

 

James’ hope is that these characters become more than characters in a book. He hopes they become friends readers can relate to, learn from, laugh with, and turn to when they need a little encouragement.

Because whether you’re 7 or 70, we all need a reminder sometimes to be kind, help one another, face our fears, believe in ourselves, and never forget just how much we’re capable of.
